TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Week 6 of the 2022 National Football League season concluded last Monday. Below is a look at former Alabama football players who shined on the gridiron.
Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams had another outstanding performance for the Jets. Williams earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors after a five-tackle performance that included two sacks and two tackles for loss to go along with a forced fumble in New York’s 27-10 win over Green Bay . Williams’ teammate CJ Mosley also made a difference for the Jets on defense, leading the team with 11 tackles while adding a pass defensed. The veteran linebacker currently leads the team in total tackles and ranks fourth overall in the league.
Jonathan Allen matched Williams’ forced fumble while adding the first interception of his career en route to a banner performance in Washington’s 12-7 victory. Allen also contributed four tackles, including a sack, to go with a pass defensed and a quarterback hit. Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson tallied eight tackles, including one for a loss, to go with a pass breakup against the Chargers.
On the offensive side of the ball, Brian Robinson Jr. scored his first career touchdown at a key point in the fourth quarter for the Commanders, sealing the win. The rookie carried the ball 17 times for 60 yards in his first career start after missing time with injury. Fellow running back Kenyan Drake tallied 10 carries for a team-leading 119 yards and a touchdown while adding a catch for eight yards in Baltimore’s game with the Giants.
Dolphins Jaylen Waddle broke the century for Miami, catching six passes for 129 yards against the Vikings. Waddle’s former teammate and Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith sealed Philadelphia’s 26-17 victory with a fourth-quarter touchdown in prime time against the rival Dallas Cowboys. Smith finished his night with five catches for 44 yards and a score.
