Da Silva leads Windies A against Bangladesh A

Joshua Da Silva has been named as the captain of the West Indies team for Bangladesh’s tour of the Caribbean.

The 24-year-old from Trinidad and Tobago was named captain of the side for two four-day matches and three one-day matches between August 4-20 in St Lucia.

Da Silva is joined in the Test squad by compatriots Yannic Cariah, Bryan Charles and Anderson Phillip.

He will also lead the one-day team, which includes Trinidad and Tobago’s Cariah and Phillip.

Jamaica Scorpions coach Andre Coley will be the head coach of the West Indies A team.

“We have stated very early on that we will try to give opportunities to the players and expand the group. The ‘A Team’ program is a very good thing for West Indies cricket and the CWI should be complimented on ensuring that we have these matches again and host and host these games in Saint Lucia,” said Desmond Haynes , the main selector.

“The squad has been selected so that we have a closer look at the players in the longer format and also in the 50-over format as we have a lot of international cricket around. We want to give the players the exposure and opportunity to play ‘A Team’ cricket and President’s XI matches like we had earlier this year as it is vital and much needed,” the former West Indies opener added.

The first four-day match begins on August 4 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
