David Silva has been ordered to pay a total of €1,080 in compensation and penalties after admitting a violent incident last summer.
According to Tiempo de Canarias, Silva was involved in a large brawl last summer during a city carnival in Maspalomas, Canary Islands. A large-scale fight broke out, involving Silva, his brother and a third unidentified man.
During the fight, to get a young girl away from someone, Silva grabbed her by the arm and made her fall to the ground. The girls suffered bruises and cuts and sought medical attention at the time.
After admitting the actions, Silva was fined instead of the case going to court. His brother had also threatened others in the knife fight.
Real Sociedad do not intend to make a public statement on the matter, but will deal with it internally.
Silva had previously enjoyed an almost universally good reputation in Spain and England, where he spent a decade at Manchester City. This will undoubtedly change that perception of him in the eyes of many.
