Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the Harrington area this morning.

On September 16, 2022, at approximately 6:12 a.m., a Ford pickup, driven by a 64-year-old male from Delaware, was traveling northbound on Prospect Church Road and crossed the intersection of Hammondtown Road. The vehicle then left the road for unknown reasons and collided with a private residence, followed by a wooden clothes pole and a tree.
The operator of the vehicle, who was properly restrained, was found dead at the scene. Alcohol or drug use is not suspected to have been a factor. The identification of the victim is pending notification of the next of kin.
The road was closed for about 3 hours while the crash was investigated. The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Cpl/3 J. Lane at 302-698-8457. Information can also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
