Fargo’s Drekker Brewing Company is celebrating its 8th birthday the weekend of September 16th and 17th with DrekkerFest 8, a FREE, open-to-the-public party and carnival for the whole family!
If you’ve been to a DrekkerFest before, then you’ll have an idea of what to expect. Friday is all about fun beers and good food, then Saturday is all about throwing a giant FREE community party with more fun than you can shake a stick at!
Friday kicks off the festivities with a giant 15-beer release party, including limited-release collaborations with, as Drekker describes, 8 of the country’s other weirdest breweries.
“We’ve been lucky enough to meet some really amazing, talented and certainly quirky brewers over the years. It’s been an absolute blast rubbing our heads together and dreaming up these crazy beers with them,” shares Tom Knowlton, Drekker Lead Brewer, Owner and self-proclaimed Wing King of the Midwest, after eating his age in wings every year for his birthday. He is currently 31 years old and still a growing boy.
All 15 beers will be available Friday at noon along with this year’s commemorative glass set. But this is no ordinary glass set. To celebrate 8 years, Drekker has custom made magical 8 Balls to celebrate the anniversary and offer their clear assistance.
“We’ve built a Magic Factory here, so why not try to capture it and share the mystery,” explains Hailey Von Wald, Drekker’s head of supreme experience. “These Magic 8 Balls are so much fun and for the past two weeks, I’ve relied on mine for all of my major life decisions. I got engaged last week and I know I made the right call because the DrekkerFest 8 Magic 8 Ball said so.”
Now, what could make this holiday even better? Yes FREE beer for a year!!!! That’s right, the first 50 people in line on Friday and Saturday will all win a special prize, and eight people over the two days will win FREE beer FOR A YEAR!
The real party starts on Saturday the 17th at noon when the doors open for an all-day, all-ages carnival with bouncy houses, playgroups, carnival games, ax throwing, flash tattoos by Amarok Tattoo Studio, a kissable puppy benefit 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, an art show and sale by Punchgut, FREE face painting and zombie caricatures, art experiences by several local artists and a FREE concert headlined by New York’s Rubblebucket!. Food and entertainment will be available from local favorites including Blackbird Woodfire, Luna, The Hotdog Peddler, Driftwood Grill, The Barge Food Truck, Treat Theater and Windsor Waffles.
The FREE concert will begin around 7:00pm and will feature Fargo’s own Jessica Vines (but now based in Los Angeles), special performances by the Fargo Flow Fire Dancers, Mae Simpson from Minneapolis and will end with a bang with Rubblebucket taking to the stage with unique brand of indie dance-pop.
Mark Bjornstad, President and Co-Founder of Drekker explains what makes DrekkerFest so special. “This is our favorite weekend of the year. For us it’s a chance to thank the community for all their amazing support, throw the sickest party we could ever dream of and just have a great time together.”
