DVD documentary will tell story of how carnival cart for Queen’s Jubilee was built

A one-hour documentary about the construction of a unique carnival for the Queen will form part of a special two-disc souvenir DVD 2022 Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.

Burnham-On-Sea Carnival and BBC Radio Somerset presenter Andy Bennett was a member of the engineering team involved in building the aptly titled ‘Jubilation’ carnival, which played a leading role in the Platinum Jubilee Competition in June .

From the start of the project and armed only with a small camera and a smartphone, Andy captured key moments and recorded interviews with some of the characters involved in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The unique ‘Jubilation’ float was built by 200 members of 17 carnival clubs for the Platinum Jubilee Competition in London after many months of work on its construction.

After trawling through hours of footage, Andy produced the documentary ‘From Parkway to the Palace – The Story of the Jubilee’ and has kindly given Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnaval permission to include it as a special DVD as part of the regular official of this year. Souvenir DVD of the procession.

“The documentary details the life cycle of the entire project, from the early design stage, to the grand reception the carriages and cast received as they took part in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Competition in London earlier this year.”

“2022 will see the 39th anniversary of the Bridgwater Carnival video/DVD shoot, and the popular souvenir features Bridgwater carnivalist Chris Hocking, providing commentary, facts and insight on all of this year’s carnival entries.”

“Maniac Films will film and produce the DVD of the procession, which will also feature clips from the day’s entertainment and the squibbing spectacular. Viewers can watch the procession with live audio, or with optional commentary.”

The price of the 2022 double disc DVD set remains the same as the 2019 Bridgwater Carnival DVD at £15 + £2.25 post and packing. The two-disc set can be pre-ordered from the official Bridgwater Carnival online store. Those who have already ordered their 2022 DVD will automatically receive the two-disc set.

Spectators at this autumn’s Burnham-On-Sea Carnival on November 7 and the other six Somerset Guy Fawkes Carnivals in Bridgwater, Weston, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Wells and Glastonbury will also see the royal carriage in its full glory.
