El Salvador’s Ministry of Defense plans to approve a budget of US$250.6 million for 2023.
This is slightly less than the current year’s budget, which is $256.6 million.
El Salvador’s Defense Minister, Vice Admiral René Merino, defended his institution’s 2023 budget before Wednesday’s Legislative Assembly (unicameral congress).
The state’s overall 2023 budget budget allocates $250.6 million for defense, including $17.7 million for public investment.
The defense budget increases next year’s compensation line item by US$294,895.
