Elon Musk Gets Word Of Advice From Jacinda Ardern: Twitter ‘Can Do A Huge Amount Of Harm’ If Misused – Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA)

Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern said on Tuesday Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO and new chief of Twitter Inc, Elon Muskmust “strictly adhere to the principle of transparency.”

What happened: Ardern, speaking at a national summit on countering terrorism and violent extremism, said: “While I haven’t had any opportunity to engage directly with Mr Musk, I think the point I would make here is that social media and platforms like Twitter have a great responsibility”.

“They can be a force for democracy, a force for connection and for good. But also, if misused, they can do great harm,” the prime minister said, adding that she would not yet meet with Musk to ” The Christchurch Call Initiative”.

The “Christian Call” initiative was launched by Ardern and the French president Emmanuel Macron in 2019, which has seen world leaders join tech giants including Meta Platforms Inc META AND Alphabet Inc GOOG GOOGLE, to tackle terrorist and extremist content online. The online anti-hate project was launched after the mass shootings at two Christchurch mosques in 2019.

She added that Twitter was one of the organizations that was “deeply involved” and had been a “really constructive partner” in the campaign so far.

Meanwhile, Musk has accused Twitter’s former board of directors and the company’s lawyers of “intentionally” hiding evidence.
