Daytime highs are forecast to be in the upper 80s to low 90s in the lower elevations and in the upper 70s to low 80s in the higher elevations. Additionally, heat indices near 110 degrees are expected for North and Northwest Puerto Rico and a heat advisory is in effect.

Scattered showers will continue over the waters with some movement inland east of Puerto Rico at times during the morning.

This afternoon, the peak of shower activity is expected to affect the western and interior sectors of the island before moving south later in the afternoon. Shower activity from the islands is also possible in eastern Puerto Rico, including the San Juan metropolitan area.

On the other hand, heat indices above 102 degrees are expected for the rest of the lower elevation areas. Winds will increase from an easterly direction around 12 to 18 mph, with gusty sea breezes and stronger gusts, especially near squalls.

Moderate easterly winds will keep some choppy weather conditions on the waters. However, the swell is expected to remain around 4 feet or less. There is a low risk of rip currents at local beaches.
