The show tells the story of Alzira, a mother who has been suffering from the disappearance of her son, Moacir, for several years. She finds in religion a way to strengthen herself while she waits for the return of the young man and takes care of her husband Antero, who suffered the effects of a stroke. Alzira is supported by her godmother Noélia, Moacir’s godmother.
Almost ten years after leaving home without giving any news, the young man returns. To the surprise of his mother and father, Moacir returns as Indienne. The reunion between parents and daughter takes place amidst fear of rejection, doubts about the future, emotions and memories of the past.
The name of the show refers to a line from the song ‘Mamãe’, by Herivelto Martins and David Nasser. In the text, the phrase refers to the fact that Alzira uses eggs to make rice pudding, her son’s favorite dessert.
