Starting March 1, 2023, Ethiopian Airlines flights will return to pre-COVID19 levels.
Ethiopian Airlines with daily flights from Addis Ababa to Beijing and Shanghai, as well as ten and four weekly flights to Guangzhou and Chengdu respectively. Therefore, Ethiopian will operate a total of 28 weekly passenger flights to China when services are fully restored.
Ethiopian Airlines announced that the frequency of its flights to Chinese cities will increase from 6 February 2023, eventually returning to pre-COVID19 levels on 01 March 2023 after the lifting of restrictions by the Government of China. From February 6, 2023, Ethiopian Airlines will operate daily flights to Guangzhou, while increasing its weekly flights to Beijing and Shanghai to four each and maintaining the thrice-weekly operation to Chengdu.
Regarding the increase in flight frequencies, Ethiopian Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said: “We are pleased to be increasing our flight frequencies to Chinese cities thanks to the easing of flight restrictions by the Government of China. China is one of the largest markets for Ethiopian Airlines outside of Africa and the increased flight frequencies will help revive trade, investment, cultural and bilateral cooperation between Africa and China in the post-Covid era. Thanks to our large network across Africa, increasing the number of flights to Chinese cities will bring Africa and China closer together. We look forward to further expanding our service in China going forward.”
In addition to passenger flights to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu, Ethiopian is also operating cargo flights to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Changsha and Wuhan.
