Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell’s 3Pas Studios has signed a first-ever deal with ABC Signature. Deadline reports that the deal is a multi-year deal and is for English-language television content.
Derbez, Odell and 3Pas recently announced the second season of their Apple TV+ show Acapulco. The studio is also behind the recently released show Devil’s Night on Vix+ and LOL: Last laugh, a Spanish-language comedy competition show, on Prime Video. The studio has also announced that a new comedy, They came at night, is in the works for Vix+. The studio is also behind many of Derbez’s comedy films, including Outboard, How to be a Latin Loverand Hulu’s waves. A new film, Aristotle, also premiered in the studio and Dante Discover the secrets of the Universe, at the Toronto International Film Festival last month.
The studio has made an impressive effort in broadcasting and comedy in both Spanish and English. English-language shows and movies from the studio often feature Spanish and Latino culture. While the new deal is for English-language content, Latin and Spanish-language topics will most likely be projects present under the deal.
“Eugenio and Ben transcend culture through their diverse and inclusive storytelling, fueled by their deep connection to Latin American talent and source material,” said Jonnie Davis, president of ABC Signature. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring their next wave of great English language and cultural projects to the studio.”
Under the deal, Derbez Odell and Sonia Gambaro, VP of 3Pas’ English-language television division, will oversee the “development, identification and sourcing of talent, ideas and IP for the ABC signature across all platforms.”
The deal isn’t the only one on the books for 3Pas. They also recently renewed a first-look movie deal with Lionsgate and have a deal with TelevisaUnivision for Spanish-language content.
“For actors, writers, directors and creators like me, Disney has long been a leader in inclusive and diverse storytelling. We are very grateful for this incredible opportunity to raise new, diverse voices with ABC Signature,” said Derbez.
“At the heart of our stories we bring people together and celebrate our common humanity,” said Odell. “We have a treasure trove of incredibly diverse stories, talent and creators across the United States and Latin America. We can’t wait to get the party started with ABC Signature and their fantastic team.”
