A former police officer was shot dead in Katwaroo Trace, Penal this morning.
Sayed Mohammed, 46, who now owns a clothing shop near his home, was killed at around 9.15am.
He was leaving to go about his business when his wife heard two loud bangs and, upon checking, saw him lying in the driveway in front of the garage with multiple gunshot wounds.
The Southern Division officer intercepted the vehicle at Debe Trace, Penal and arrested two persons and recovered firearms, police said.
Several police officers were at the scene, including ASP Steve Persad and Acting Superintendent Dhillpaul from Homicide Region 3.
