For those ready to start their holiday shopping, the Christmas Craft Fair takes place at the Museum of Western Development this weekend. Live performances and art exhibitions are also available throughout the city.

1 — See a musical theater production

Presented in partnership with the Saskatchewan Jewish Arts Festival, Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story is a 2b Theater production. Interspersed with Klezmer music, the dark comedy is inspired by the true story of two Romanian Jewish refugees who came to Canada in 1908 and had to learn how to love again after experiencing the horrors of war.

The 80-minute show, recommended for ages 13 and up, runs through October 23 at the Persephone Theatre. Learn more at persephonetheatre.org.

2 — Attend a local pop-up art exhibit

Painting Canadian Landscapes is a pop-up exhibition of new paintings by Men Who Paint – Saskatchewan landscape artists Cam Forrester, Greg Hargarten, Paul Trottier, Roger Trottier and Ken Van Rees. Artists celebrate 15 years of exploring and painting Canada with more than 70 new works.

3 — Party for the release of the album

Saskatoon singer-songwriter Suzie Vinnick recently released her seventh solo album, Fall Back Home. Performing for nearly 30 years, Vinnick blends blues, folk and roots genres with elements of gospel and rockabilly. 4 — Listen to a choral performance

The Saskatoon Men’s Chorus kicks off their 42nd season with a scholarship showcase. The show features four young baritones, winners from the Saskatoon Music Festival classes, who have been awarded SMC scholarships. Singers Kai Batycki, Adam Brookman, Erik Jeerakathil and Zack St. Louis each perform a solo selection and join the chorus for a finale.
