Otami

His creative process begins with his emotions and perceptions, passes through his shoulder and is reborn on the screens, hardly decipherable in words but full of messages and ideas that fascinate and communicate with the viewer. The 24-year-old plastic artist already has a strong curriculum, with exhibitions also abroad, such as New York, Rome, Finland, Paris (Louvre) and Brussels. He also has works in galleries and private collections. “Art to me is expression. It’s letting our feelings speak for us. We live in a world that fears and runs away from vulnerability, but it is through it, and only through it, that we can connect deeply with other beings human. Art is a common weakness, which can happen in different ways,” explains Maria Eduarda Boabaid, who promises to be the new promise of abstract art.

Maria Eduarda Boabaid O conceptual artist Otamy presents the exhibition “Doors and Portals, Space – Time – Infinite, where the title of the show is a metaphor, a provocation, bringing the door not only as an object, but as a link, connection, transition, as an element that can symbolize openings and endings, beginnings and farewells. Or even further, the door as a conceptual axis that consolidates in itself, as subject, object and architecture, the delicate conciseness that unites two seemingly different movements: opening and closing. The artist brings themes such as hunger and prejudice, hope and human relationships into his works. Otamy found, in simple everyday objects, the way to express reality in a special but clear way. In this solo show, he seeks to question the object, space and traditional artistic languages, aiming to invent new poetics. From his first research, when he makes a drawing, he is discussing the object, reevaluating doors, windows, pans and many other urban objects that belong to the popular universe. In this process that marks his work, he discusses the various possibilities of plastic languages and artistic making itself.

Exhibitions have curated by Riccardo Tartaglia and Regina Nobrez, from Tartaglia Arte di Romaand can be visited until November 3, at the Centro Cultural dos Correios RJ.

About Tartaglia Arte

Tartaglia Arte was founded in 1950 as a painting studio by the artist Piero Tartaglia, then known as Piery. After a few years, he created a point of reference and cultural meeting with other artists and young talents, where, under Mestre’s guidance, they developed their personal style. Tartaglia’s overwhelming passion for pictorial expression with bursts of pure color and violent contrasts that make the canvas come alive gave life to the School of Disgregationism. He later founded the Galleries, for the permanent exhibition of his works and those of his students, which are now run by his son Riccardo. Love for art and broad cultural vision are the hallmarks of this great artist and represent his moral and spiritual legacy. A legacy that continues to be represented by Riccardo Tartaglia, who works with the same seriousness and persistence in spreading art, through exhibitions and international events. But all with the signature of Riccardo Tartaglia and Regina Nobrez (Member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Rio de Janeiro and Cultural Ambassador with Honoris Causa, from the Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina – Honor of Art of Florianópolis), which gives a certificate of credibility and creative sensitivity.
