WOOD LAKE – It’s fair weather again in the Wood Lake community, and attractions like carnival rides and the Wood Lake Burger Stand are up and running through Wednesday night.
Events and activities at the fair are aimed at all age groups. Tonight, fairgoers can check out a Wood Lake fire tank as well as an Americana-themed variety show. On Wednesday, fair organizers will hold the annual children’s parade, followed by the Lake Wood Fair’s grand parade, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
Food and music will also be in the mix for the fair. Today and tomorrow there will be pie and ice cream get-togethers from local churches, as well as DJ entertainment in the beer garden area. Livin Rich Entertainment will perform tonight, while Alter Ego Entertainment will perform on Wednesday.
In many ways, the Lake of the Woods Fair is like a county fair. Community members will have garden produce, baked and canned goods and crafts on display in the Community Center exhibit hall. A carnival with Midwest Rides will also be open each night of the fair. And a popular part of the annual festivities is the hamburger stand. Area community members volunteer to work shifts cooking and selling hamburgers, and the funds raised go to pay for events sponsored by the Wood Lake Community Club.
