JACKSON COUNTY, MI – Get ready for fried food, carnival rides and a great lineup of shows at the 2022 Jackson County Fair.
The fair, and all its familiar favorites, will open Sunday, Aug. 7 and continue through Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Jackson County Fairgrounds/Keeley Park, 200 W. Ganson St.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 10, and free for children ages 5 and under.
Attendees of the 168th fair will find their usual favorites back in action, including carnival rides, 4-H barn animals, fair food and a full line of entertainment, the Jackson County Fair manager said. , Denise Owens.

Here’s your guide to this year’s fair, including where to park, grandstand shows and the full schedule of events.
Where to park:
The old state prison lot on North Street is available for parking, along with two other lots along North Street.
Parking is $5. A free shuttle will take people from the parking lot to the north entrance of the fairgrounds.
Right food
More than 60 food vendors are expected to be at the fair this year.
This includes the ever-popular Fiske Fries, a bubble tea stand, donuts, Frick’n Good cookies, Outlaw Popcorn and more. A coffee shop, hosted by Robin’s Nest of Eaton County will also be available inside the Gumper Building.
Rides
The rides are being set up in an upside-down, U-shaped section on the old harness racing track grounds.
Wristbands are $30 (available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), or $25 in advance, at the American Credit Union Event Center, 128 W. Ganson St., or at any branch of American Credit Union 1 in Jackson County.
Rides are $2 on Tuesdays.
Free daily act
New to the fair this year is the free ride act Safari Sam and Oscar the Awesome Strich, who is a man riding an ostrich doll.
Also new this year is a draft horse show at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, in the grandstand.
Performances by ELVIS, Black Jake & The Carnies, Chelsea House Orchestra. Bad Mojo and LeadFoot will be on the Keeley Stage all week.
The popular calving barn is also open daily to the north of the grandstand.
Tribune events
The Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy comedy show kicks off the fairground fun on Sunday, August 7, with award-winning rock bands Collective Soul and Switchfoot taking the stage on Monday, August 8.
Hank Williams Jr. of Country music, with special guest Granger Smith, featuring Earl Dibbles Jr., performs Tuesday, August 9.
Tickets are still available for the shows, but they are selling out quickly, Owens said.

Other grandstand events
A monster truck show is set for 7pm on Wednesday, August 10. Seat tickets are $20 and general admission is $12.
The Twisted P Rodeo is Friday, August 12 and Saturday night, August 13, features the demolition derby. Box seat tickets for both events are $15 and general admission is $10.

Heat and a chance of rain are in the forecast to start the week off right so far.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday, Aug. 7 shows a chance of showers after 9 a.m. with a low of 89. That night will cool down to 67, but still includes a chance of rain.
Monday, August 8 shows a chance of rain again, with a high of 82 and a low of 60. Tuesday, August 9 looks like it will be mostly sunny with a high of 81.
