ICC World Cup 2023: The countdown to the next 50 over World Cup has already begun with just over a year to go. ICC World Cup 2023 will be held in India.
However, the men in blue are currently facing the West Indies in an ODI series. West Indies took on India in the second ODI on Sunday, July 24. Furthermore, the match was being played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
India were coming into this match after winning the first ODI against West Indies on Friday. West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran went on to win the toss and he decided to bowl first.
The men in blue got off to a good start with a 119-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill. India lost track in the middle stage which resulted in a steady fall of wickets. India scored 308 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

West Indies lost Shai Hope cheaply but built their innings from there on. They were very close to winning the match. But India grabbed a thrilling victory and they won the match by three runs.
Kyle Mayers was the key factor in West Indies’ excellent start on Friday. He went on to score 75 runs off 68 balls at a strike rate of 110.68.

Hardik Pandya – India
The Indian all-rounder is back in form after fully regaining form. However, due to his history of back injuries, Hardik Pandya may hang up his boots in the ODI format after the upcoming World Cup.
Trent Boult – New Zealand
The New Zealand fast bowler is already showing signs of exhaustion. He has recently missed many international matches to rest his body. It is likely that he will prioritize T20 leagues across the globe.
Ravindra Jadeja – India
India has an abundance of young talent coming out of its IPL tournament. Selectors will look at more raw talent and Ravindra Jadeja may be pulled from ODIs to better manage his schedule.
Mitchell Starc – Australia
Mitchell Starc rarely plays any cricket except test cricket. He is not even looking to play money rich leagues like IPL and Big Bash. This may be an indication of something that may soon be discovered by the player himself.
Anrich Nortje – South Africa
Anrich Nortje is someone who prefers to play in the shorter format. However, he also likes the longer format of the game. He is likely to retire from ODI’s after the World Cup to stay fit and fresh.
