Pensacola, Fla. – The Escambia County Florida Department of Health (FDOH-Escambia) offers free rapid HIV testing at the after-hours clinic held on the first Thursday of each month. like: The rapid HIV test gives highly accurate results in just 15 minutes. All testing is confidential and performed in a private clinical setting.
*Rapid HIV testing is also available Monday through Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm at FDOH-Escambia, 1295 W Fairfield Dr, Pensacola, FL.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of their routine health care. People at higher risk should be tested more often.
People who are tested and learn they are HIV-free can make decisions about sex, drug use, and health care protect them from HIV. For people at risk for HIV, taking HIV medication is called pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is very effective in preventing HIV. Staff will be available to discuss PrEP for preventing HIV infection.
