Former West Indies captain announces retirement from international cricket

Wicketkeeper-batter and former West Indies Test captain Denesh Ramdin has decided to retire from international cricket.

He will continue to play exclusive cricket. Ramdin represented West Indies in 74 Test matches, 139 ODIs and 71 T20Is. He scored 2898 runs in the longest format, with four centuries. He amassed 2200 runs in ODIs with two centuries and scored another 636 runs in T20I cricket.

Ramdin made his international debut for the West Indies against Sri Lanka in 2005. He last represented his country in a T20I series against India in 2019.

Announcing his retirement, Ramdin wrote in an Instagram post: “It is with great pleasure that I announce my retirement from international cricket. I have fulfilled my childhood dreams of playing cricket for Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies.

Confirming his intention to continue playing franchise cricket, Ramdin added, “Although I am announcing my retirement from international cricket, I am not retiring from professional cricket. I will continue to play franchise cricket around the world.”
