GoTeachKY names 18 teacher ambassadors for 2023 – Kentucky Teacher

GoTeachKY announced the 18 Teacher Ambassadors for 2023 on October 10.

The mission of GoTeachKY, an initiative of the Kentucky Department of Education, is to ensure that all students across the Commonwealth have equal access to effective educators. GoTeachKY seeks to recruit the next generation of teachers in Kentucky, helping to address the critical teacher shortage that affects every state in the US

The ambassadors of GoTeachKY 2023 are:

  • Kara Byrne DowdyMayfield High School (Mayfield Independent)

The ambassadors were selected from a pool of applicants from across the country who responded to a call for teachers interested in supporting the initiative and helping to promote the teaching profession.

Ambassadors must hold or have held a teaching position in a Kentucky public school and have at least four years of experience as a teacher, principal or other certified school staff member.

Each ambassador has a unique story that brought them to the teaching profession, and their stories will be featured on social media as examples of the different paths available to future educators.

Ambassadors will also represent GoTeachKY at career fairs and other speaking engagements.
