Brisbane Heat set a challenging target
In the thrilling clash at Allan Border Field, Brisbane Heat emerged victorious against Melbourne Renegades by 28 runs. After going into bat, Brisbane Heat posted a competitive total of 169/8, thanks to vital contributions from their middle order. Georgia Redmayne led the charge with 44 off 39 balls, including seven boundaries, anchoring the innings after a quick start from Grace Harris. Late firepower from Laura Harris, who hit 31 off just 16 balls with three sixes, further bolstered the Heat’s tally. Contributions from Jess Jonassen (25 decrease 19) and Grace Parsons (11 off 7) added crucial runs in the final overs.
The Melbourne Renegades bowlers keep it competitive
Renegades’ bowlers worked hard to contain Brisbane Heat, with Sophie Molineux AND Hayley Matthews taking two gates each. Matthews was particularly economical, conceding just 21 runs from her three overs, while taking two crucial wickets. Deandra Dottin AND Sarah Coyte also chipped in with a wicket each, but costly overs meant the Renegades had to chase down a challenging total. Although the Renegades managed to keep the Heat from crossing the 170-run mark, Brisbane’s steady partnerships helped them set a tough target.
