A male relative of the second victim who died following last week’s shooting in Rue Chaussee, Castries, has appealed for an end to violent crime, warning that ‘all bad people’ will eventually end up in Choc cemetery.
Police said 27-year-old Mergatette Joseph died on Friday.
Family members referred to the deceased as Bolom.
“Today you all kill Bolom, tomorrow it will be your turn. It will reach you too. You can’t sleep. You have to turn your back every day to see who is coming,” declared one of the deceased’s cousins.

“The men put down their weapons. Stop the killing because all of you now all the bad guys where do you see them? They were lying in the Choc (cemetery) looking at the belly of the plane as it took off,” claimed the cousin, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The relative described the deceased as fun and cheerful.
And he made it known that the death was a heavy blow to the family.
According to the cousin, three bullets hit Joseph, including one in the head.

“We expected him to really come through. But when we saw from what his uncle and aunt told me how they saw him, he was not responding,” he recalled.
Calling for an end to the gun violence that has plagued Saint Lucia, the cousin advised people to find other ways to resolve any disputes they may have.
“What I would like to say to the boys out there, killing people, brothers, fathers, uncles – medieval people who play no part. Put down your weapons, please. This doesn’t make sense,” he said.
