Guyana: The U-17 National Team leaves Guyana in search of a first title at this level. Captain Mohabir is confident of returning home with the title. The Guyana U-17 team left Guyana for Trinidad and Tobago yesterday (July 17) for the regional under-17 tour that will begin on July 19.

The national team, which aims to be the first team to win the U17 Regional, will be coached by Alvin Mohabir. Mohabir led Demerara to the GCB Under 17 Inter-County title two weeks ago when they went unbeaten in the 50 over tournament where he was also the top wicket taker.

The squad also includes talented and experienced batsman Mavindra Dindial who is expected to lead the batting along with Jonathan Van Lange who registered 104 in this year’s Inter-County.

Guyana will face Barbados in their opening match at the National Cricket Centre, Couva, on July 19, then play hosts Trinidad and Tobago in the second round at Powergen on July 21.

Jamaica and Leeward Islands are the third and fourth round matches at Inshan Ali Park and Gilbert Park on July 23 and 25 respectively. Guyana will then face the Windward Islands also at Gilbert Park in the final match on July 27 before returning home on July 28, 2022.

Guyana has never won the Under 17 Regional Tournament. GCB wishes them well and encourages them to believe in themselves and their ability as they seek to make history.
