Guyana: President of Guyana- Dr Irfaan Ali joined world renowned soca artiste Machel Montano on stage last night during his performance at the Cricket Carnival Super Concert 2 at the Tarmac National Stadium last night. Montano was part of a lineup that also included dancehall queen Spice and world renowned dancehall artist Skillibeng.

Dr Irfaan Ali and thousands of Guyanese were on hand to watch the first ever Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final in Guyana as Jamaica Tallawahs defeated Barbados Royals at the National Stadium in Providence on Friday night.

The Tallawahs beat the Royals by eight wickets.

President Ali, who was accompanied by world-renowned soca artist Machel Montano, watched the game from the green stand. The Tallawahs, owned by Guyanese businessman Kris Persaud and coached by legendary Guyanese and West Indies cricketer Shivnarine Chanderpaul, defeated the Royals by eight wickets.

President Ali presented medals to both teams after the clash.

Dr Irfaan Ali received a courtesy call from an executive team from Caribbean Airlines (CAL) at State House today.

During the meeting, the President and the CAL team discussed the current transit arrangements in Trinidad and Tobago, the future development of the airline and its strategic position, taking into account the opportunities and challenges in the Guyanese market.

President Ali welcomed CAL’s new manager, Renatha Marshall, who was accompanied by the airline’s CEO, Carl Stuart.

The Minister of Tourism, Industry and Trade, Oneidge Walrond and the Director of Projects in the Office of the President, Marcia Nadir-Sharma, were also present at the meeting.

Dr Irfaan Ali and First Lady Arya Ali attended the match last night at the National Stadium in Providence as Guyana Amazon Warriors battle it out against Jamaica Tallawahs for a place in the 2022 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Championship match.
