Guyana’s Amel Griffith is crowned Miss Cricket Carnival 2022

The inaugural Miss Cricket Carnival pageant was held in Guyana with the country’s Amel Griffith winning the title.

Griffth, 21, also won best dress of the evening, best talent and the People’s Choice award. The Miss Cricket Carnival queen told local media in an interview that she prepared for the pageant seven days a week, which was tiring and exhausting, but her hard work really paid off. Griffith said it was a privilege and an honor to have her fellow citizens come out and support her and thanked them for being the wind beneath her wings.

Meanwhile, Beviny Payne of Barbados was crowned first runner-up in the competition, while Claire-Marissa Smartt of St Lucia was crowned second runner-up. Miss St Lucia was also awarded best carnival costume and best swimwear.

The Miss Cricket Carnival pageant was held as part of the Cricket Carnival Celebrations in Guyana, which is hosting the Hero CPL Finals.

Caribbean delegates from the six CPL countries including St Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, St Lucia, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago attended last night’s competition which was held at the National Cultural Centre.
