WALTHAM, Mass. – Men’s Basketball Sophomore Toby Harris e Durham, North Carolinaearned his first career University Athletic Association Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Harris helped the Judges win their first two games of the season last week. He averaged 27 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists, two blocks and two steals per game as Brandeis won both contests. He shot 69 percent from the field (20-29), 56 percent from 3-point range (9-16) and 100 percent from the line (5-5). Harris scored his first career 30-point game in a 77-58 win over Salem State to start the week on Wednesday, Nov. 9, along with five rebounds and a career-high four assists, three steals and three blocked shots. On Saturday November 12th in a 90-62 win against Rhode Island College, Harris had 24 points and nine boards, missing just two shots on the day (9-11 FG, 4-6 3FG, 2-2 FT).
On Wednesday night, Harris hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left in overtime in an 81-79 win over Emmanuel that helped the Judges improve to 3-0 on the season. This is the first 3-0 start for the Judges since the 2015 season, and the first under head coach Jean Bain.
Brandeis returns to action on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM when they take on local rivals Lasell University on the road.
Harris graduated in 2021 from Durham Academy.
