Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that a new red-ball tournament named after legends George Headley and Sir Everton Weeks, the Headly Weeks Series, will follow the conclusion of the 2023 West Indies Championship, which will see teams from defending champions Barbados. Pride, Guyana Harpy Eagles, Jamaica Scorpions, Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force and Windward Islands Volcanoes compete for the title.
The Headly Weeks series will consist of Team Headley and Team Weeks, and will be joined by the new West Indies Academy team, with a single round-robin tournament taking place at the end of the West Indies Championship in April 2023, from 18. April to 06 May at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) in Antigua. The Team Headly and Team Weeks squads will consist of top performers at the West Indies Championship event.
