(Glen Burnie, MD) – The month of September is recognized as National Preparedness Month, an annual opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of always being prepared for disasters and emergencies. Preeti Emrick, Director of the Office of Emergency Management, urges community members to take emergency preparedness seriously, “as the severity and frequency of severe storms continues to increase, we must ensure our community is prepared for any thing. Disasters begin and end locally, so residents, businesses and county agencies must be prepared to respond when they happen.”
“Being prepared as individuals can save lives and avoid putting our first responders in harm’s way as they respond to emergencies,” said Steuart Pittman, Anne Arundel County Executive. “We must all do our part this month to help make Anne Arundel County more resilient.”
Throughout this month, we will be helping our county prepare on an individual level by hosting our Emergency Preparedness Expo, participating in community events, giving preparedness presentations to community groups/organizations, and sharing preparedness tips on our accounts of social media. Check out our social media pages on Facebook, I tweet, Instagram, Nextdoor, Youtube and TikTok for tips and preparedness information.
