Health and Welfare Minister Sabrina Turner announced Thursday night at Seafarer’s Hall that she has now secured a partnership with Health City Cayman Islands to bring free health care services to the Prospect constituency.
The announcement was made by Minister Turner as part of her regular community update, a pre-election promise she is delivering.
Explaining the new development, Minister Turner said:
As your Minister of Health and Welfare, I saw the need to bring health care services to our constituencies.
I’m all for preventative care.
And definitely, you can no longer sit where people feel the least because they either don’t have the funds to go to the doctor or they don’t have insurance.
So, I have cooperated with a health institution, which is willing to bring a doctor to the constituency once a month.
This will be free for you people.
Upon hearing of the new offer, some in the audience applauded, cheering Minister Turner on the move.
Ben Meade, Marketing and Communications Manager at Health City Cayman Islands, was also on hand to provide more information about the program for the Prospect constituency.
Mr. Meade shared that the offer is about “bringing health care to the community and making sure that everyone (seeking care) can get the care they need.”
For us, we are focusing on cancer screening for the community.
We are looking at a wide range of cancers that affect the community.

We will have comprehensive cancer control [and] we will be doing this for a few months.
We don’t want to wait until you’re on a tight deadline.
We want to help diagnose members of our community with these screenings so you can get the care you need when you need it.
These shows come at no cost.
Mr. Meade explained further.
Prospect constituents can now look forward to these free health care services, which can be critical for those who are either uninsured or underinsured.
