How to add a content warning to multimedia tweets

  1. Open the Twitter app and start writing the tweet.
  2. Tap the flag icon at the top of the composition panel
  3. Choose one or more warnings depending on your content from options such as Nudity, Violence or Sensitive.
  4. Once you’re done, go back and tap Tweet

As the name suggests, the content warning label will allow viewers to avoid certain disturbing or unsafe posts that they don’t want to view. Notably, Twitter only offers three warning offers including Nudity, Violence or Sensitive. There should have been one more “spoilers” option to allow users to avoid movie spoilers whenever there is a Marvel or DC movie release.

Before this system, viewers could only tap the “Show” option to view media. Also, placing content warnings on text tweets was not allowed. Additionally, you can’t see these warnings in TweetDeck yet.

For the uninitiated, Twitter is testing a new feature that will allow them to untag irrelevant conversations they don’t want to be a part of. This feature will be called the “leave this conversation” feature.
