STARKVILLE, Miss.—The Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Mississippi State Astronomy Club are hosting a special Halloween public viewing on Friday [Oct. 28] at the university’s Howell Observatory.
“Howell on the Moon” will be held from 7-9 p.m., weather permitting, and is free to all and will include telescope viewing of Jupiter, Saturn and more.
Children of all ages are encouraged to wear costumes and candy will be provided. Organizers also encourage participants to dress warmly.
Clouds or rain will cancel the view.
The observatory is located at the HH Leveck Animal Research Center, also known as the South Farm. To reach the facility, take Blackjack Road to the intersection of Stone Blvd., then turn south on Stone Blvd. Widened (also Hail State Blvd.) and continues for two miles. Signs mark the way to the site.
