Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina celebrates Latino culture at Museum Village

All are invited to celebrate the diversity and infused Latino-influenced American culture at the 8th Annual Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina on Saturday, August 27, at the Museum Village.

This year is once again dedicated to Puerto Rico through Hands Helping for Puerto Rico, as aid is still needed for damage from Hurricane Maria and the earthquakes. It is also dedicated to the late Robert Marr, co-founder of Fiesta.

Live salsa and a variety of activities and games are planned, along with guest speaker appearances, book giveaways, vendors, food trucks and more.

The committee this year is recognizing Newburgh City Police Commissioner Jose A Gomerez for his Leadership as the first Latino Police Commissioner of a large city in NYS and the Hudson Valley by presenting him with the annual “Con Orgullo” award Lo Nuestro Award”. Also, there will be an exhibit of the 65th Infantry Regiment “Borinqueneers” of the entire unit of the Puerto Rican Army.

Herman Mendoza. author of Shifting Shadows, will have a reading and book signing. Latin Salsa Cuboricuba will perform.

“This gathering will provide an experience of history and culture to stimulate thought, discussion and educational enrichment. Additionally, we want to encourage and promote true American history within the newly arrived Latino immigrant community,” said Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina Chairman Rubén Estrada.

Families are encouraged to come and bring their children to learn about Latino culture and American history. Face painting will be a featured activity. Food trucks, refreshment booths and vendors will be available.

The Village Museum is located at 1010 State Route 17M in Monroe, New York. Admission is free and free parking will be available in the Museum Village parking lot.
