Impossible’ Director Christopher McQuarrie Gives Useful Advice on Twitter

It’s not every day you get career-saving advice from those who’ve made it, let alone if you’re just starting out. Luckily for an aspiring filmmaker, they got advice from Christopher McQuarriedirectorate for Mission Impossible movies and writer for Top Gun: Maverick.

Andrew Huff publicly messaged McQuarrie on Twitter, asking for directorial advice before working on their first feature film. McQuarrie responded to the young director, telling him to take care of himself physically, be open-minded and be himself. So plain and simple advice, especially for those on the outside looking in.

Huff expressed gratitude to McQuarrie, saying his advice is helpful, especially since one of the film’s locations is in the woods.

People who saw McQuarrie’s advice agreed with his advice, with some saying one of them became a sort of industry standard. People pointed out that they saw crew members wearing comfortable shoes during the shoot. Meanwhile, one user shared alternatives to using a director’s chair if one is not available.

Fans praised McQuarrie for passing on helpful advice to newcomers to the field. People wished Huff luck on Twitter after the famous director answered his question online.

McQuarrie began his film career in 1993, but it wasn’t until 1995 that he received multiple screenwriting awards for The usual suspects.

He would later work on bigger projects, like the one in 2017 mummy, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation & FalloutAND Top Gun: Maverick. It was already confirmed that McQuarrie would be working on the upcoming two-parter, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which is scheduled to be released in 2023 and 2024.
