On the first day of the first test match between India and Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Rishabh Pants AND Litton Das found themselves at the center of a fierce verbal confrontation. The incident, which occurred during a tense moment in the game, added intensity to what was already a high-class contest. Known for his aggressive style on the field, Pant’s exchange with the Bangladesh wicketkeeper quickly became a highlight of the opening day.

Hot clash between Rishabh Pant and Litton Das

As India struggled to recover from the star disaster after losing three key wickets early on, the match took a dramatic turn in the 16th over. Taskin Ahmed gave a fuller ball, which Yashasvi Jaiswal struck from the middle, prompting a rapid song. The ball bounced at the striker’s end, where Pant was running, and it deflected off his leg, allowing him to complete the run. This moment caused frustration from Das, who appeared unhappy with the way the run was performed. What started as a routine game escalated into a heated verbal exchange.

Known for his vocal presence on the field, Pant hit back at Das with a sharp retort. As the tension grew, Pant was heard saying: “Usko feko na bhai, mujhe kyu mar rhe ho (Throw him, why is he hitting me?”) The exchange was caught on camera and quickly went viral, capturing the intensity of emotion on both sides.

Bangladesh’s early progress on Day 1 of the Chennai Test

Earlier, the Bangladesh captain won the toss and opted to bowl first with the aim of taking advantage of the overcast conditions. The decision quickly paid off as Bangladesh’s pace attack, led by Hasan Mahmudstruck early. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was the first to fall, managing just 6 runs before being dismissed in the sixth over. Pressure on India intensified when Shubman Gillwhich was expected to provide stability, was dropped for a duck.

At 34/2, the Indian innings was teetering, and all eyes turned to Virat Kohli to rebuild. However Kohli managed just 6 runs before his dismissal, leaving India in further trouble. Mahmud’s extraordinary spell saw him claim the precious wickets of Rohit, Gill and Kohli in quick succession, leaving India reeling.

Pant’s dismissal due to poor batting

At lunch, India reached a more stable position at 88/3 in 23 overs, with Pant and Jaiswal having added 54 runs for the fourth wicket. Despite the early setbacks, both strikers had worked diligently to rebuild the ranks. However, the respite was short-lived. As the second session began, Pant fell victim to a poor shot, offering a direct catch to the keeper and falling for a disappointing dismissal, giving Mahmud his fourth wicket of the day. That left India at 96/4, with the innings still precariously poised.
