Many people, including at least five children, were injured after a high swing at a fair in northern India malfunctioned and fell to the ground.
The horrifying moment, caught on camera, happened on Sunday around 9.15 pm at the Dussehra fair ground in Mohali city.
A video of the crash shows the high-rolling ride slowly climbing into a column. The shuttle hovers at the top for a moment before free-falling about 50 feet. The swing crashes into the ground, sending several people flying from their seats. Screams are heard as the scene unfolds before the horrified fairgoers.
Good Samaritans helped load injured riders into police vans as there were no ambulances on site, local media NDTV reported. At least 16 people were injured and taken to a civil hospital in Mohali, according to the medium.
