iPhone 14 launched: Netizens lament high prices, say very few changes introduced

The event gave an overview of the new product features of the iPhone 14. Just after the launch, social media was abuzz with memes and heated comments about Apple products.

Many netizens joked how their aspiration to own the iPhone 14 conflicts with their low finances. They also teased how older versions of the iPhone might stop working since the new launch. Echoing those sentiments, one Twitter user wrote: “Apple please, I can’t stand the iPhone 14 just turning my phone back on.”

The iPhone 14 Plus is priced at Rs 89,900. iPhone 14 Pro starts at Rs 1,29,900 while iPhone 14 Pro Max from Rs 1,39,900.

Many made memes about how the iPhone 14 offers very few changes compared to its predecessor. However, some others praised the tech company for introducing features such as replacing the notch with a new tab design called “Dynamic Island” and bringing emergency SOS via satellite connection (although it’s only available in the US and Canada at the moment).

Steven Aquino, a tech reporter who covers accessibility and assistive technology, tweeted about the new iPhone additions and wrote: “iPhone 14 accessibility feature: Apple has added a Mac-like startup sound when you start the phone. My understanding is that many blind and visually impaired people, even within the company, wished for a concrete way to tell if their phone restarted.”
