IPL 2025: Dwayne Bravo shares a heartfelt message for CSK fans before joining KKR

Legendary West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has shared a heartfelt message for his devoted fans of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as he begins a new chapter after his retirement from all forms of cricket. The announcement, made on September 26, 2024, comes just days before his 41st birthday and marks the end of an illustrious career spanning over two decades.

In an emotional farewell posted on social media, Bravo expressed his deep gratitude for the support he received throughout his career, especially during his time with CSK.

“Vanakkam, this is a champion. It’s no secret now that news is out that I’ve accepted the deal to mentor the Knight Riders franchise. I just want to take this time to mention and a special thanks to the CSK management team for giving me their blessings to continue doing something I’m really passionate about.” he said, summing up the deep connection he shares with the franchise and its fans.

“My fans in Chennai and all CSK fans around the world, I appeal to you to give me your blessings and support as you always do. I know this is a sad moment for you guys, but it’s one that I encourage you to continue to support me in whatever I do. Lots of love, yellow, all the time. See you soon guys. See you on the other side.” he added.

Bravo played a key role in CSK’s success from 2011 to 2022, contributing significantly to their multiple IPL titles and becoming a fan favorite with his charismatic personality and match-winning performances.

Bravo’s last season was cut short due to a groin injury sustained during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), which led him to conclude that it was time to retire from competitive cricket.

Following his retirement announcement, CSK took to social media to honor Bravo’s contributions, stating, “From a champion on the field to a legend in our hearts! #WhistlePodu for a Bravo of a career!” This tribute highlighted the impact Bravo had on the team and its supporters.

As he moves into a mentoring role with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL 2025, Bravo’s legacy as one of the greatest players in T20 cricket remains intact. With over 600 wickets in T20s – the most by any player – his influence will continue to resonate within the cricketing community as he nurtures new talent in the sport.
