Bright carnival has finally made her long-awaited arrival in Australia, sailing into Brisbane over the weekend ahead of her maiden voyage in early November.
Cruise ship re-imagined, before Costa Luminosais set to offer a variety of cruises Down Under, and is the second Carnival ship to dock in Australia this season, with The brilliance of carnivals shipped home to Sydney.
Bright carnival arrives
Bright carnival arrived in Brisbane on Sunday, October 30, 2022 and is Carnival’s first ship in the eastern Australian city.
As the newly renamed ship sailed into Moreton Bay, the stateroom lights spelled out “WE (heart) QLD” across the length of the ship to signify “We love Queensland” – the Australian state where Brisbane is located.
“Brisbane is the first market globally to experience the big, bright and fun Carnival Luminosa has to offer and we thank Queenslanders for their patience, love and support.” said Kara Glamore, vice president of Carnival Cruise Line Australia.
“Having a ship based in Brisbane has been our goal for a long time, and it’s only fitting that our ship in the Sunshine State is filled with natural light, plus the hospitality and entertainment that Carnival is famous for.”
An experience inspired by Italy
Before Costa Luminosa, Bright carnival has been renovated and re-imagined with Carnival Cruise Line’s signature fun atmosphere, but without losing its individual Italian flair.
For example, the bright and open spaces of the ship remain intact, as well special Italian touches such as lamps and chandeliers 120 Murano glass. A specially commissioned sculpture for Costa Luminosa“Reclining Woman 2004” by Colombian artist Fernando Botero, will still be a focal point of the ship’s 10-deck atrium.
“While Carnival Luminosa will feel like a Carnival ship with our signature service and offerings, the ship will offer its own unique features that our guests will love.” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
The last renovation of the ship that was transformed Costa Luminosa to Bright carnival brought on board several popular venues for carnival guests, including The Punchliner Comedy Club, the Kitchen Table VIP Dining Experienceand one of the fleet’s largest spas with an extensive thermal area for additional wellness and relaxation opportunities.
Bright carnival it has also been given a new look with updated red-white-blue hull color rolling across the entire Fun Ship fleet. A unique touch, however, is that the ship does not have the iconic “whale tale” funnel associated with the Carnival cruise line.
Instead, the ship’s straight hull has been repainted in red, white and blue with a classic pattern reminiscent of Carnival Cruise Line’s oldest, original ships from decades ago.
Cruise to Australia
Bright carnival will welcome guests for the first time on 6 November 2022 for a 7-night round trip Airlie Beach, Cairns, Port Douglas and Willis Island itinerary.
Throughout the Australian summer season, the ship will offer a variety of cruises exploring the Great Barrier Reef and various South Pacific destinations, including New Zealand, as well as shorter cruises to nowhere for relaxing holidays, giving guests plenty of time to explore and enjoy the magnificent ship.
In April 2023, the ship will reposition in Seattle on a 21-night one-way voyage, visiting New Caledonia, Fiji, French Polynesia and Hawaii en route, before offering 6-8 night cruises to Alaska for the summer.
Bright carnival will return to Brisbane in September 2023 on an epic 31-night cruise through Alaska, Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia to offer more Australian getaways next year.
