Jamaica: During the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jamaica’s Jaydon Hibbert claimed the U20 World Championship Record in the Triple Jump with his maiden attempt of 17.27m in the event final. Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness congratulated him on taking home the gold for the nation.
Prime Minister Holness stated, “Our Jaydon Hibbert broke the World U20 Triple Jump Championship record on his first attempt of 17.27m in the final of the event. Congratulations on taking home the gold for Jamaica!”
He further mentioned the statement that the young stars of the track continue to dominate the championships, winning four gold medals, one silver medal as well as two bronze medals on the fifth day.
Compared to Jaydon Hibbert’s last jump, he won a gold medal with an improvement of two feet.
He surpassed the previous Championship record of 56-3.25 (17.15), which was set in 2018 by 17-year-old Jordan Diaz Fortun of Cuba 2018. The student of Kings College High School in Kingston, Jamaica, entered the competition as the world leader U20 for 2022 with his previous career best of 54-8 (16.66).
Along with this, the Prime Minister of Jamaica said that they are getting ready to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the country’s independence.
He stated, “The lights are on at Jamaica House and we are getting ready for celebration and celebration. Tomorrow marks 60 years of independence for our beautiful Jamaica – our Diamond Jubilee. Let us reflect and commit to reignite a nation for greatness!”
