eremy Clarkson has assured youngsters disappointed with the results that his C and two U’s have not stopped him from enjoying a life of luxury.
Results day is always a nervous time – and this year perhaps more so than ever, as students saw their biggest ever drop in top grades and teenagers face a scramble for university places.
But some wildly successful people have been on hand to offer sage advice and comfort to those whose grades may not have been what they expected.
Clarkson took time out from his holiday to share a picturesque holiday photo on Twitter, telling youngsters: “Don’t worry if your A-level results are disappointing. I got a C and 2 Us and am currently relaxing on this boat.”
The star of the Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm every year makes an effort to satisfy those concerned about results.
Previous years have seen him tweet: “If you didn’t get the right A-level results, don’t worry. I got a C and 2 Us, and my boss is making truffles for breakfast,” while in 2018 he wrote: “I’m sitting here deciding which of my Range Rovers to use today.”
Meanwhile, Gordon Ramsay is offering those who score free food at his Southwark pizzeria.
“Fingers crossed pressure is off so here’s what I’d like you to do – go and get those results and then head down to Street Pizzza in Southwark today because I’m going to help you celebrate by cooking the most amazing shots . at home, from me,” he said in an Instagram video.
He added: “Honestly, I know it’s been a tough two years. Well done and believe me, it’s not always about A*s. It’s about understanding who you are.
“So good luck, congratulations, and I can’t wait to see you for pizza today.”
British astronaut Tim Peake also shared reassuring words, admitting his results were not what he had hoped for.
But sharing a photo of himself taking a spacewalk, he added: “If you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything.”
Actor and comedian Nadia Kamil also offered wisdom from someone whose results went according to plan.
“I did brilliantly in my A levels, then was a professional clown for about 15 years and then retrained as a doctor with no science A levels at all,” she tweeted. “So I guess what I’m saying is—you’ll figure something out, kid.”
