Nomcebo Zikode, singer of the global mega-hit, Jerusalema, will perform in Trinidad and Tobago for Carnival 2023.
IS Promo and Gemini Production have contracted the phenomenal artist from South Africa to perform at their events, the promoters said in a media release.
Zikode’s Jerusalema has received almost a billion combined views on YouTube since its release in 2021 and has sparked a worldwide line-dancing craze.
The singer/songwriter will also be collaborating with local soca artists on soca/Afrobeat infused tracks to be released for the 2023 festival, the release said.
Zikode along with Ivory Coast vocalist Elody Amondji are also slated to collaborate with composer and producer Ian Wiltshire, who wrote David Rudder’s Trini 2 The Bone. The new singer, composer and producer Mical Teja also joins the creative team, the announcement states.
Zikode is also expected to begin the creative process for her soca/Afrobeat collaborations in early July, the release said.
