Married and the mother of a 3-year-old son, the 31-year-old model now wants to help girls and women accept their bodies.
Consecrated as a female beauty event focused on self-esteem, inclusion, empowerment and encouragement, the 7th edition of the MISS PLUS SIZE NATIONAL 2022 pageant aims not only to draw attention to the beauty of plus women, but primarily to be a voice against fatphobia. and to reinforce tolerance of body diversity through self-esteem and empowerment work for women of all ages.

“We live in a time when we need to talk about female power and act against fatphobia. In 2010 I decided to do the first competition with the aim of helping women to have more self-esteem, self-love, self-care. They are much more than bodies criticized by standards of beauty. They are beautiful women who deserve visibility, respect and opportunities. “, emphasizes the organizer and creator of the competition, Eduardo Arauju.
Eduardo Araúju emphasized that all the candidates were “very prepared, with beautiful clothes, glamor and professionalism”.

Elected Miss Plus Size Nacional 2022, Jéssica Paes is a designer, entrepreneur, married, mother of a 3-year-old son and resident of the city of Teixeiras, in Zona da Mata, in the interior of Minas.
The plus size model since 2018, says the works came when she started to accept her body. Currently, 60% of her income corresponds to the work she does as a business model.
“I had to deconstruct myself, accept myself as a fat woman, and that only happened in 2016, after I became a mother. I had to overcome bulimia that I developed at the age of 12. I saw thin women, I had no reference to fat women who were successful, I felt left out. I didn’t think I was capable of being loved, I went through a horrible abusive relationship,” she told Miss Plus Size National 2022.
The road to the race in Rio de Janeiro was arduous. Jessica says that she has put a lot of effort into preparing for the catwalk, to the self-care routine, and mainly to the realization of the “Típico” and “Gala” outfits.

“A friend and I made both dresses with my resources. I made the Gala costume with leftover fabric from my granddaughter’s 15th birthday dress. As for the branch of the tree that I used in my typical costume representing an Ipê Rosa, I got it on the street,” said Xesika. Ipês are common trees in the interior of Minas Gerais.
Recently, the model said that she will now use the recognition that her years of work and pageant brought to her to help and empower other girls and women.
“I have prepared a lot to be at least among the finalists. We are much more than a clothing size. We have to believe in what we want,” said the winner, who won the cash prize of R$ 1000.00 (one thousand reais).
