Argentine federal judge Julián Ercolini announced this Monday the dismissal of the open process against the vice president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, in the open case against her for alleged bribes known as ‘bribe notebooks’.
“Throughout the current investigation, no element could be included to prove the existence of such payments and/or the person(s) who would have made them,” Ercolini explained in his decision, Télam news agency reported.
The alleged payments made by public works businessmen Enrique Pescarmona and Franciso Valenti emerged from the notebooks of Fernandez Oscar Centeno’s driver.
In one of the facts, an alleged payment to have been made on May 29, 2008, “the person making it could not be reliably ascertained,” according to the magistrate.
The same situation “is also observed in the payment that would have been made on May 28, 2015, for which the person who would make it could not be ascertained”, even though Centeno’s notes, the businessman Valenti appeared.
Regarding the payment to Pescarmona on April 22, 2010, “the evidence involved would not allow progress to be made in relation to this event with the degree of certainty required at this stage,” he concluded.
The decision implies the dismissal of some of the charges, although other processes related to the so-called “notebooks” issue continue.
