HUTCHINSON – The Kansas State Fair Board heard a presentation from Tom Thebault with North American Midway Entertainment on Saturday morning.
“We were down about $9,000 from Friday last year, but certainly more from 2019,” Thebault said. “We have reached the one million dollar mark and we have two days to go.
Thebault always fills out his travel crew with local people, but said he may not have hired enough. He also said the traveling crew is really top notch this year.
“They do a great job representing us on the rides,” Thebault said. “They also do a great job of getting us moving. Some years, that doesn’t happen so well.”
There are two revenue thresholds where the company pays the board back for improvements to that area of the fair. They are in the $1 million and $1.5 million sale. Carnival set a record in 2021 with $1.7 million.
“I like what you’re doing with the new black surface,” Thebault said. “It looks great, you know?”
He would like to continue working on this, if possible. The board also said earlier this week that they would like to work to provide additional shade available at the midway in future years.
