Sao Paulo, October 26, 2022. Formula Vee returns to Velocitta this Saturday (29/10) for the penultimate stage of the Paulista Championship, with the chance to determine the first champion of the season.
Kauan Morais, 17, will have the chance to secure the FVee Júnior title in advance. The absolute leader in the category, he only needs to finish two races to celebrate.
“It will be my first race at Velocitta and at a decisive moment”, says the young driver from Salesópolis (SP). “That’s why I’m looking for as much information as possible about the appearance and intensive training in the simulator. I hope everything works out and I can go home with the title.”
Kauan Morais leads FVee Júnior with 138 points, followed by Thiago Monteiro, with 92 and Pedro Dinardi, with 18. The leader won six of the eight races he participated in, in addition to one second place and one retirement.
day off in general
In the overall Campeonato Paulista standings, Lucas Veloso defends a 20-point lead at the top. In pursuit of the unpublished title, he tries to widen the gap.
“Every advantage is important, but the objective is to try to reach the last stage, in December in Interlagos, with the biggest possible advantage”, says the pilot from Itapevi, who leads with 186 points.
The second place is Laurent Guarinaud, with 166 points. In search of a third championship, he tries to repeat the performance of the previous stage at Velocitta, in March, when he won both races.
“I had a great performance at Velocitta, which gives me hope to look for new victories and take the lead,” says the French driver, based in Brazil. In third place is Augusto Santin, from Pará, with 158 points, just two more than Renan Casetta of São Paulo.
The Master’s Duel
In the category for drivers over 40, Augusto Santin and Laurent Guerinaud fight for the title. In search of the third championship in the category, Paraense has an advantage of 10 points. He leads with 186 points, against the Frenchman’s 176.
“This is a decisive moment in the championship and almost every driver is fighting for a title. I believe that it will probably be the most difficult and complicated phase of the season”, says Santin.
André Suenaga, third place with 160 points, and Saulo Soares, with 128, are also in the fight for the Masters title.
