Kentucky Hosts Pikeville in Memorial Coliseum for Exhibition Game – UK Athletics

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In preparation for the upcoming season, the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will host Pikeville in its only exhibition game of the season on Wednesday, November 2nd for a 7pm ET tip inside Memorial Coliseum.

Fans can enjoy free entry and season ticket holders will have their seat reserved. While a ticket is not required, the game is a good opportunity for season ticket holders to practice their mobile tickets for entry into Memorial Coliseum. For more about mobile tickets, visit UKathletics.com/mobiletickets.

Big Blue Nation will also receive a non-program magnet, while official team posters, featuring all 15 Wildcats, will also be available throughout the season.

Memorial Coliseum doors will open one hour prior to tip time. Bags must adhere to the UK Athletics Clean Bag Policy and bags and items will be checked. To avoid additional touch points, fans are strongly encouraged not to bring unnecessary bags into Memorial Coliseum. More on UK Athletics’ clean bag policy can be found online here.

Game parking is available beginning three hours prior to tip-off in most surface lots around Memorial Coliseum, including the High Street Lot, East Maxwell Lot, Joe Craft Center Lot, College View Lot, Alumni Center Lot and Career Center Lot. Cornerstone Garage and Parking Structure no. 2 will open two hours before tipping. The Gatton Student Center lot is a paid parking lot while all other parking options are free. The JCC lot is primarily used for handicap/mobility parking. At this point in the season no transportation is provided.

The exhibition game will not be televised, however Darren Headrick will have the call on the UK Sports Network at 630AM WLAP in Lexington. Live stats will be available online at KentuckyStats.com and free live audio will be available online at UKathletics.com.

The in-state game will mark Kentucky’s only exhibition game of the season. The Wildcats will come off a public Blue-White game at Memorial Coliseum and a closed scrimmage against Eastern Kentucky at the Joe Craft Center practice gym in late October.

Kentucky will begin its regular season on Monday, Nov. 7 when it hosts Radford for a tip-off at 7:00 PM ET on SEC Network+.

For the 14th time since 2007, the Wildcats will begin the season ranked or receiving votes in the national polls, as the Cats are receiving votes in the USA Today / Coaches Preseason Poll.

UK returns five players from last season’s historic team, a season that culminated in a Southeastern Conference women’s basketball tournament title for the first time since 1982. Those five returners, including guards Robyn Benton, Blair Green, Emma King and Jada Walker and forward Nyah Levertter combined for 44 starts in 2021-22. Green, meanwhile, is returning for her fifth year after sitting out last season with a torn Achilles suffered in the preseason scrimmage.

It was a successful second season for the Kentucky women’s basketball program under coach Kyra Elzy, who led the Wildcats on a 10-game winning streak en route to the conference tournament title and became the first coach in program history who directed it. The teams made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in their first two seasons at the helm.

Pikeville is off to a fast start this season, jumping to a 1-0 overall record after defeating Olivet Nazarene University, 94-88, last Friday in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Five Bears scored in double figures, including Sierra Feltner and Mary Englert, who each had 20+ game points. Additionally, Bailey Frazier and Morgan Stamper each recorded double-doubles. UPIKE head coach Clifton Williams, who has spent time with the UK men’s basketball program during his career, has guided the Bears to a 105-78 (.571) overall record over seven seasons at the helm.
