Kevlon Anderson to play club cricket in Trinidad – News Room Guyana

Promising Guyanese batsman Kevlon Anderson will leave these shores on February 4 to play for Preysal Cricket Club in Trinidad and Tobago.

The opportunity came through his West Indies Cricket Academy coach and now interim West Indies coach Andre Coley.

The 22-year-old has been part of the CWI Academy in Antigua for the past 12 months and according to a statement from the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) on Thursday, “the assignment gives Anderson a chance to get some much-needed game time. practice with limitations capable of supporting its growth.

The pitch conditions are likely to be similar to what the Guyana Harpy Eagles will face during the last three rounds of matches in the West Indies Championship, 2023.

Furthermore, the GCB felt that the responsibility of an overseas professional would help Anderson continue to develop the necessary attributes of an international player.

CWI High Performance Manager Graeme West appreciated the initiative and encouraged GCB to partner with CWI and Preysal Cricket Club in this player’s development plan.

West claimed, “I think it’s a great opportunity for Kevlon to get some competitive cricket and prepare for the final three rounds of the WI Championship.”

GCB President Bissoondyal commended CWI for its proactive approach towards managing young players. He noted that great efforts are being made to nurture and develop youth players and this initiative is an indication of the understanding of the Youth Development Programs of GCB and CWI.

Additionally, Singh indicated that the practical exercises undertaken in the youth development program are good and should be supplemented with player involvement in the match, which provides real game context situations.
