Pratt, but that didn’t stop him from jumping in to help coordinate a Pratt Regional Medical Center-sponsored children’s carnival for Pratt Jam last weekend. A recent addition to PRMC as Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Dillard moved to Pratt from Wichita with her family. Although new to the community, she said the opportunity to participate in something as special as a small hometown festival was too good to pass up.
“I’m young, from the city,” she said. “We just don’t get to experience this kind of thing in big cities anymore. What you have here at Pratt is so special. I have told my friends that this is what it feels like when you win the lottery. This Pratt Jam was such a fun way to interact with the community. People visit each other, meet new friends, reconnect with old ones in a safe and fun environment. It just doesn’t get any better than this!”
Dillard’s hosted activities for kids that included photo booths, balloon fun, bean bag tosses, face boards, tattoo booths and much more. She was assisted by sports teams from Pratt Community College to run many of the activities, as well as several PRMC employees.
“We just wanted to have a very visual, fun atmosphere for kids and families,” she said. “I think we accomplished that.”
Welcoming the children to the carnival area was a large popcorn box overflowing as an arch of appropriately colored balloons created by Pratt’s Balloons and More, Inc. Red, white and yellow flags and streamers tied together the entire carnival at Sixth Street Park, which was accompanied by occasional train whistles as the Pratt Pilot Club’s International Express train passed through the area giving children free rides to that day.
