AN unbeaten knock of 119 runs by opening batsman Kyle Ramdoo guided the Hummingbirds to a six-wicket win against the Scarlet Ibis and the Sports and Culture Fund/TT Cricket Board senior 50-over on Sunday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, at the National Cricket Center in Couva, the Scarlet Ibis were bowled out for 226 in 45.2 overs.
An early meltdown saw them bowled out at 31/3 but good middle-order performances from Andrew Rambaran (60), Jahron Alfred (49), Shatrughan Rambaran (44) and Quinci Babel (30) stabilized their innings .
For the Hummingbirds, West Indies Under-19 left-arm spinner Anderson Mahase took two wickets for 23 runs, while Marlon Richards took 2/28, Namir Seupaul (2/39), Jovan Ali (2/42), Sameer Ali (1. /31) and Navin Bidassie (1/31).
On their side at the crease, Hummingbirds openers Kyle Roopchand (29) and Ramdoo put on 50 for the first wicket, before Roopchand was caught by left-arm spinner Ricky Jaipaul.
Ramdoo and Adrian Ali bowed out to build a vital 97-run partnership for the second wicket. When Ali was dismissed by Jaipaul on 147, he was caught by the bowling of Jaipaul, who then removed Rajeev Ramnath for five.
Bidassie (23) was the first to go but Ramdoo and Richards guided the Hummingbirds to a 230/4 victory with another free.
Ramdoo’s unbeaten knock came off 140 balls and consisted of nine fours and four sixes. He was adjudged man of the match as Jaipaul finished with the Scarlet Ibis’ best bowling figures of 3/38.
